Nazar is a series about energy, protection, and the quiet ways we guard what matters most. the word nazar comes from Arabic and Urdu meaning "sight" or "gaze," and refers to the belief that certain energies can carry unintended harm. I grew up with this idea. In my family, we kept evil eye amulets at the front door, in the car, even in our pockets. these eyes were quiet protectors; sources of comfort that reminded us we weren't alone in facing what we couldn't control.
In these paintings, I reimagine those protectors as bold, dimensional forms, each shaped with care and charged with color. Every hue has meaning: green for growth, orange for joy, red for courage. The eyes are not passive. They interact with the forces around them, sometimes fighting off harmful energy, sometimes working in harmony with energies that nurture and sustain. Either way, they protect.
This series holds space for resilience, clarity, and joy. For me, it's about more than keeping harm away - it's about protecting happiness, and creating space for it to thrive...
